Volunteer & Community Events
Join your local RCD for an upcoming volunteer event and become a direct part of healing the Santa Monica Mountains. We’ll also provide opportunities to connect with and care for local wildspaces. Check back often for new listings and scroll down for our full yearly calendar.
Community Fire Resilience Workshop
Join Community Nature Connection (CNC), your RCD and AlterCareLine at Akuutet Learning Nursery to learn how to prepare your home for wildfire and how to emotionally and mentally care for yourself and your community in times of climate crises. As we approach the 1-year anniversary of the devastating January 2025 wildfires, it is important that we know what to do in the case of a wildfire emergency and ways that we can protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our homes.
Snacks will be provided, and you will also have the opportunity to take home a California native plant!
When: Nov 22nd, 10am-2pm
Where: Elyria Canyon Park
Join the WiLD CiTY Adventure
WiLD CiTY is an immersive workshop series centered on connecting our community with the beautiful and sometimes surprising nature that exists throughout Los Angeles and beyond.
During our Fall 2025 series, participants will be invited to discover and better understand nocturnal invertebrates crawling within the Santa Monica Mountains; connect with their inner poet while hiking through unique urban hillsides; and dive into the otherworldliness of astronomy, gazing into the stars that are ever present above our city. Join one or all of our workshops this season! Read more about each workshop and purchase our tickets at the link below.
- Workshop I: Not-So-Creepy Crawlers | Oct. 18th | 6-8pm | Paramount Ranch
- Workshop II: Hiku | Nov. 22nd | 9-11am | Amir’s Garden in Griffith Park
- Workhop III: City of Stars | Dec. 12th | 6:30-8:30pm | 101 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica
Trippet Ranch Tree Care
We need your help to heal the wildlands of the Santa Monica Mountains.
During the Palisades Fire, we lost many previously planted oak trees within Trippet Ranch of Topanga State Park. Our team is now ready to invite volunteers back into this fragile space and begin the process of healing this invaluable woodland.
Learn more about the event and rsvp below!
When: Dec 20th, 9am-12pm
