San Fernando Valley Audubon Grant
The RCDSMM’s outdoor field programs at Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve have been partially funded by the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society for many years. Our partnership with this local chapter is one of the longest-running and most successful of its kind in the Los Angeles area.
Every year we are able to offer 30 FREE field programs to 4th & 5th graders from Title I schools (transportation not included). As many as 60 students may participate in a single program.
Each field program includes a free teacher workshop, designed to help teachers prepare their students for their hands-on field program and ensure the day is both enjoyable and effective.
The timing of this workshop varies but is always offered early in the school year (Sept. or Oct.) to ensure new teachers are prepared prior to their field program.
