Wildfire Resilient Garden Guide is a collaborative initiative led by the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains and funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). Designed and developed by studio pappaterra, this project builds on lessons learned from recent wildfire events—most notably the 2018 Woolsey Fire, 2024 Franklin Fire, and the 2025 Palisades and Eaton Fires—to envision a more resilient, ecologically grounded future for communities along the Rim of the Valley in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, and across Southern California’s wildland–urban interface (WUI).
