This Earth Month, we have a special ask as you celebrate our shared planet.
In the wake of the Palisades Fire, your RCDSMM helped rescue over 700 endangered tidewater gobies from the impacted waters of Topanga Lagoon.
Since then, the gobies have been housed by Heal the Bay as well as the Aquairum of the Pacific, but they cannot stay in these holding facilities. A fungus has begun spreading across their tanks, and while we’re looking for am appropriate treatment, the rate at which the fungue seems to be spreading is threatening their continued survival.
Our team is working to fund genetic sequencinge which will help to inform where the healthy gobies might be able to be released. This effort will cost $7,000 and so far generous donors have already given $4,500! We’re hoping our community can help us raise the rest. Will you help us reach our goal?
If you feel inspired to support these efforts, you can give via the button below.
